Silicone and Latex – Character Concept Test
Hi all… First
Short Description:
This one was modeled and rendered in 3dsmax. Textures and patterns, bump/displacement maps were painted in Photoshop CS. I used a few old photos of mine for textures too for the backdrop.
Bit longer description:
Here’s something I “finished” a few days ago – Took 3 evenings to create. I started with my quite fresh base mesh and started hacking it to new shape… This was a just-for-fun project to test a wacky, wild character design.
Most of modeling time went to hair and clothing. Nothing special in modeling – Just editable poly and some time in front of screen. I created rings and a few other details with splines and then converted them to low-res editable poly meshes to do further editing. Body was shaped to conform to clothing. I also created a few facial morph targets to create a few facial expressions seen in renders.
Skinning was quite tricky to do because clothing is quite thin in many places, pretty much in domain of realistic measures, not few to tens of centimeters as you see too often in many cg character designs.
Materials don’t have any speculars, I used (again) real reflections for reflective materials to get more solid feeling of reflectors etc in studio space.
Below you will find links to other renders with different pose, closeup shots of details etc.
